The belly button piercing is very popular. Not all belly buttons can be pierced successfully. It depends of the shape of the belly button itself. At Area 51 we customise the bar to fit perfectly and sometimes ask the customer to come back in 3 - 4 weeks to check on its healing progress and maybe to downsize the jewellery.

Belly piercing is a very quick process. The customer is asked to stand while the belly button is cleaned and marked up. Then after lying down the belly is pierced. The whole process can take less than 5 mins with the actual piercing taking 2 - 3 seconds.

Most customers feel a slight sting, but once the piercing has been done, the only feeling is mild soreness for around half an hour.
